Creating a stair cutout for the second floor
Quick Steps
- Draw a Surface: On the second floor, draw a surface over where the stairs are located.
- Delete Duplicate Stairs: Remove the second-floor stairs to avoid overlap.
- Enable Cutout: Click on the surface you drew and check Cutout to create the stair opening.
- Adjust Stair Height: If stairs aren’t reaching the second floor, select them and adjust their height.
To properly display stairs connecting two floors, you need to create a stair cutout on the second floor. Follow these steps to ensure your stairs are aligned and visible.
Step 1: Draw a Surface Over the Stairs
On the Second Floor, use the Draw Surface button, under build to create a surface where the stairs are located. This will act as the placeholder for the stair opening.
Step 2: Delete the Duplicate Stairs
Once the surface is drawn, delete the stairs on the second floor to prevent overlapping structures. The first-floor stairs will remain intact.
Step 3: Enable the Cutout
Click on the surface you just created and check off "Cutout". This will open the space so you can see the stairs coming up from the first floor.
Step 4: Adjust Stair Height (If Needed)
If the stairs do not reach the second floor:
- Select the stairs.
- Click Adjust Height and increase or decrease the value.
- Use trial and error—adjust the number, then check in 3D view to ensure alignment.
Step 5: View in 3D & Enable "Show Floors Below"
To see the full stair alignment in 3D view:
- Make sure you’re on the Second Floor.
- Open 3D settings (top-right corner).
- Toggle on Show Floors Below to view both levels together.
What’s Next?
- Modify Your Second Floor: Adjust layouts now that stairs are properly placed.
- Render & Share: Once aligned, generate a 3D render by taking a screenshot to finalize your design and share it.
