How to create photorealistic interior renders
Quick Steps
- Access the Advanced Editor by uploading, generating, or starting from scratch.
- Optionally add basic furnishings (kitchen, couch, beds, windows, doors).
- Switch to 3D, adjust the view, and click Render.
- Position the camera, click Continue, and add a prompt or choose a style.
- Save your render and find it later under My Designs.
Step 1: Access the Advanced Editor
To begin creating photorealistic interior renders, you must first open your project in the Advanced Editor. You can do this in three ways:
- Upload an existing plan and have it digitized or processed using AI (AI for recognizer is in BETA).
- Generate a new plan and open it directly in the Advanced Editor.
- Start from scratch, which will automatically take you into the Advanced Editor workspace.
The Advanced Editor provides the tools necessary for rendering and customizing your design in detail.
Step 2: Furnish Your Space or Start from an Empty Room
Once inside the Advanced Editor, you have the option to either add furnishings before rendering or proceed with an empty room.
If you’re aiming for a highly customized result that reflects a specific design style or spatial arrangement, it’s recommended to furnish the space first. Start by adding essential items like kitchen tables, counters, couches, beds, windows, and doors. This provides the AI with a solid foundation to work from, ensuring it respects your intended layout.
For example, if you don’t want a kitchen cabinet placed against a certain wall, furnishing the kitchen to show that layout will help guide the AI accordingly. These types of specific preferences can sometimes be difficult to fully describe in a prompt, so creating a base layout helps the AI render exactly what you have in mind.
However, you can also experiment with empty rooms to explore different design ideas. Note that rendering from an empty space may produce more generic results, and certain rooms—like kitchens and bathrooms—can be harder for the AI to accurately furnish without a starting point.
Step 3: Switch to 3D and Start Rendering
After furnishing the space in 2D, switch to the 3D view to begin the rendering process. Click on the person icon next to the 2D/3D toggle at the top of the screen to enter first-person walkthrough mode. This mode makes it easier to navigate through the space and find the perfect camera angle for your render.
Use the controls on the right-hand side to adjust the field of view and set up the image exactly as you want it. Once you’re happy with the view, click the Render button located in the bottom right corner.
Step 4: Customize Your Render
After clicking Render, position your camera precisely using your mouse, then click Continue. You will be prompted to add a text prompt to customize the style of your render. This allows you to request different materials, visual styles, or enhance the realism of the final image.
For example, you can add prompts to generate cozy textures, modern finishes, or brighten the lighting. You can also add extra furnishings like curtains, lamps, or picture frames to make the space feel more complete.
If you prefer, you can use the preset style options located next to the prompt input field, or combine both methods for even more control over the final result.
Step 5: Finalize and Save
The rendering process typically takes between 30 to 60 seconds. Once your photorealistic render is complete, it will appear on the screen, and you will have the option to save it immediately.
If you want to create more renders without leaving the workspace, simply click Back and continue exploring different views and styles. All of your completed renders will be saved automatically under My Designs, which you can access at any time by clicking the arrow in the top-left corner of the screen.
