My rearranged rooms won't regenerate

If you’re seeing an error that says “All rooms must be connected for regeneration to work properly,” don’t worry, it just means one or more of your rooms aren’t joined correctly.

Here’s how to troubleshoot and fix it in just a few steps.

What the Error Means

This message appears when your floor plan includes rooms that are floating on their own, or when two rooms appear to touch but aren’t technically connected.

In order for Maket to regenerate your layout, every room must be part of one continuous layout. That means:

  • No “island” rooms
  • No partial overlaps
  • No tiny gaps between walls

How to Check if Rooms Are Properly Connected

1. Zoom In Closely

Sometimes a room looks connected at a glance, but isn’t actually joined at the wall. Zoom into the room intersections and look for clean, continuous wall lines.

2. Use the “Snap” Behaviour

When dragging one room toward another, you’ll feel a subtle “magnet” effect, this is the snap alignment in action. When two rooms get close enough, they should snap together cleanly. If they don’t, try nudging the room slightly or adjusting your zoom level to get more control.

3. Check for Stray Rooms

Every room in your layout must connect to at least one other room. This includes corridors, closets, or small utility spaces, they all need to be part of the connected floor plan.
